| The
Ferrara Tower, part of the Meridian Quay development currently under construction
near the Marriott Hotel in the Maritime Quarter, Swansea, Wales is set
to be the tallest building in Swansea and Wales at 107m. The Ferrara Tower
will have 29 storeys, double the number of the current tallest building
in Swansea, the BT Tower. Ferrara Tower will be the tallest building in
Wales upon completion, although a taller proposal has been granted planning
permission at Bay Pointe in Cardiff. 'Ferrara Tower' appears to be a working
title for the building, other working names in use include 'Meridian Tower'
and 'Oceangate Tower'. The tower "topped-out" to its full height on 12
September 2008. Most of the tower will house residential apartments. The
ground floor will feature commercial units; whilst the top three floors
will feature a 290-cover restaurant. Press reports stated that the penthouse
aparment on the 26th floor sold for £1 million. |
